Coming Soon-The Truth Project

Starting September 11 we will be digging into a new study called The Truth Project

Here's a preview of what will be included in the study:

The Truth Project is a video and discussion based study centered around worldviews and apologetics-defending our faith through the use of reason. A clear understanding of worldviews and the ability to defend one’s faith is a growing need in our society; even here in Lake Country.

Topics in this video series will include:
What is Truth?
Philosophy and Ethics
Anthropology: Who is Man?
Theology: Who is God?
Science: What is True?
History: Whose Story?
Sociology: The Divine Imprint
Unio Mystica: Am I alone?
The State: Whose Law?
The American Experiment: Stepping Stones
Labor: Created to Create
Community and Involvement: God Cares, Do I?

This video series will challenge the students intellectually and spiritually. Due to the challenging nature of this study I would like to invite and encourage you, the parents, to join us for this study. That way you can learn these important truths along with your students and be able to discuss them in depth during the week. Parent involvement will be the key to your students understanding and application of the material.

I look forward to leading you and your students through this study!

The church building needs to move!!!

Ok...we need all hands on deck for this...

Sunday, May 1, is our last Sunday in the building behind Wachovia, which means we have lots of things to move this week!
Thursday Night: Meet at the building around 6:00 to help load up and move items to the new facility.

Sunday: Plan on hanging around after worship (or meeting that night, I'll let you know) to help move chairs, tables, and everything that's left!

When we're done on Sunday we'll head over to Uppy's for some ice cream, so bring a few buck for a cone!

Update...I know...It's about time!

So...the update that everyone's been waiting for is finally here!

The first monthly Flood Zone was this past Sunday and reports are that everyone had a great time. The next Flood Zone will be October 3 from 7-9 at the WECC building.

Wednesday Night Deep End is still going strong. We are digging our way through the Doctrine of Christ. It's been a bit perplexing at times, but I guess that's all you can expect when you have an infinite and incomprehensible God!

We are planning on heading up to Lynchburg for Scaremare on October 15. We'll leave from our house at 4 and return late that night. You'll need $8 to get in, some money for Pizza (a few bucks) and money for Waffle House after we're done going through the house. This is a great time to bring friends since they will have fun and also get to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel. Make sure you let me know if you want to go so we can have transportation for everyone!

The following weekend, the 22nd, we have some tickets for House of Fate in Tungsten. If you are interested in going to this, let me know. This is another great one to bring friends to. Tickets are limited, so first come first serve!

Thanks to Kevin and Amanda for taking the lead on the Christmas party. More details to come with regard to that.

Hope everyone is having a GREAT school year. We are already over 5 weeks in here at Crossroads. It's flying by! Summer will be here before you know it!

Google Reader

Hey everyone

I was thinking the other day that there is a lot of good and great stuff out there on the internet from Christian writers through blogs. As you know, we have our blog (www.h2ostudents.blogspot.com) but there are so many others. The rebelution blog, andy gullahorn, council for biblical manhood and womanhood, girl talk, etc., etc., etc.

Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming to have to cruise around the internet to find all of these. I am interested in making it easier for your students to have access to this great biblical material.

Google has a feature called google reader. If you've never checked it out, it is worth your time. Basically it is a one stop location to access all your blogs of interest through subscriptions. Google reader then grabs all the new updates and send them to one web page. If you go to google, you will find the reader button in the upper corner. Basically you sign in with an e-mail address and password, subscribe to a couple of blogs of interest, and off you go.

What I would like to do is set up a google reader account for each student, add some blogs that I think they would like, or that I would like them to read, and then pass the info on to everyone of how to sign in. All you would have to do is go to google reader, enter your e-mail address and the password i set up and, viola!

So, keep your eye out for e-mails detailing your google reader account information! Parents, you will be able to access these accounts too with the same email/password combo to see what your kids are reading!

Using the Internet for HIS glory!

Peace

Ryan

2007-A Year to "Grow Up"

Our theme for H2O this year is "Grow Up"

The theme comes from Ephesians 4:13-15:

Until we all attain to the unity of the fatih, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fulness of Christ.

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

but speaking the truth in love, we are to GROW UP in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ.

As teenagers in 2007 it's time to GROW UP!

This world is attacking your claim to faith from all angles: music, movies, commercials, clothing, and the internet. It's time to ask the tough questions of those who claim to be Christians. It's time to stop wavering in our faith. It's time to stop saying one thing and living another. It's time to stop falling for the same old tricks and schemes. It's time to stop believing everything that we hear and start trusting the TRUTH. It's time to stop expecting to know the Truth without spending time in the Word. for us when we are so rarely willing to do anything for Him. It's time to speak up for the Truth. It's time to stop believing this world that "boys will be boys" and "girls will be girls". In fact it's time to stop being boys and girls and start being men and women.

It's time to stop living down to the expectations of this world and start living up to the God's measuring stick: Christ. It's time to GROW UP!

E4 is Here!!!

Essential Element: Emphasising Evangelism

E4 is here, and I hope you are excited. I know I am EXTREMELY excited about what God is going to do through your guys this year.

Do you realize that when Christie and I first moved here H2O had students from one school, and one school only (BHS) and now, 5 1/2 years later, God has expanded the influence of H2O Student Ministries to at least 8 schools!!! (Bluestone High & Middle, Park View High & Middle, Randolph Henry, Crossroads Christian, Centerville Christian, and Halifax Christian)

Do you know what that means??? That means that the reach of H2O to share the gospel goes clear across Mecklenburg County and even into three neighboring counties. YOU can have an incredible influence this year and start a revival in this area, your Jerusalem & Judea, for Christ!

E4 will provide opportunities for you to bring friends to a place where they can see Christians having a good time and where they can hear the TRUTH about Jesus. I know there are a lot of events planned, and I know that you can't go to all of them, but commit now to being a part of AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE over the next four months, praying EVERYDAY that God will use E4 to start a revival among the students of Virginia.

Are your ready? E4 Needs YOU and your beautiful feet!

Romans 10:13-15
For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things."

Element '06

There is a BIG event coming up at the start of the school year and we need YOUR HELP to get the word out. Here's what's going on...

ELEMENT '06
Sept. 23, 2006
5-9pm

Encounter Ministries and the surrounding churches of Southside VA are having a Youth Rally on Sept. 23, 2006. Anybody and Everybody is invited. Come out for a night of music from the local Water's Edge Community Church praise band "W.E.P.T", SixChasingSeven, and Exodus, along with a speaker and great food.
For Directions...
contact me
clgielow@liberty.edu
cell # 434-917-5791
home # 434-374-5608

Well, most of you have heard WEPT before (we'll be doing a lot of our original stuff) but you probably haven't heard SixChasingSeven.

But they are incredible (with a little bit of a Dave Matthews/Big Daddy Weave feel)!!! Check out their web-site www.sixchasingseven.com to hear some of their stuff.

Exodus is a band from Liberty that has a great sound playing and singing your favorite praise songs.

We'll have fliers and handouts for you to invite all of your friends. This will be a major event for our Yet to Be Named 2006 Evangelism Focus (which you'll be hearing more about in the coming weeks). It will only go well if YOU make it go well!!! (No Pressure!)

I promise...you don't want to miss this...a great concert in your own backyard and a great opportunity for your friends to hear the gospel!

Could there be anything better?
