Question of the Week

Hey Guys

I want to hear what you think about this question. We talked about it some on Sunday night during the story about Sam James, missionary to Vietnam.

When does fear become sinful?

Comment to this post with your thoughts. Feel free to use scripture to support your position! Tell your friends to get in on this discussion.

We'll actually answer this question more fully on the Sunday after the Super Bowl in Bible Study, but I'd like to know ya'lls thoughts now!!!

(When you guys put questions in the jar, we'll discuss them here before we answer them on a Sunday night, so keep those questions coming!!!)

I'm pretty sure all of my fear is motivated by self interest and my staggering unbelief of the gospel of Jesus.

So I'm going to say all the time. Although I'm sure there's a well formulated reason why it isn't.

When you fear what other people would thing about you standing up for what you believe in. And your not fearing what God has to say about that matter.

This is a tricky one. It depends on where the fear lies. If the fear is of something other then Christ then it is a sign that you do not fuly trust in him to care for you in everything you do. I wouldn't necessarily use te word sin. I would say it could be a stumbling block that could lead to sin or a weakness in your relationship with God.

Whome shall I fear? " When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell."

They can't touch you! The lord is my light and my salvation and he is my strength of my life.
Ps 27:1-2

Say to those who are fearful hearted, Be Strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, He will come to save you.
Is 35:4

The only thing to fear is fear itself.... because it can lead to other things.

Fear...The way I see it is that we should only fear God because He is the one who brings judement. He is to be feared and respected...that is a point I believe a lot of christians miss... THE FEAR OF GOD. It is supposed to be a healthy fear...more of respect than terror. He is almighty and over all thinigs...He created EVERYTHING and everything is in His hands...that is why He should be feared...nothing else.

when your fear infers with your trust in God. When fear takes over all reason, all hope, all trust in everything.
